Anyone who’s listened to our national “Horsepower for an Hour” broadcast for even a short period of time knows that we’re huge fans of the Audi product. From the A3 to the R8 and everything between, these guys hit it out of the park every time. Very few manufacturers have had the success Audi has had over the past 24 months in terms of product quality.
The latest thrill ride we got the privilege of taking was in the new 2015 Audi S4, this little mighty might really impressed us and the more we drove it the more we liked it.
The basic platform is based on the more sedate A4 with a mild 220 horsepower and while the Audi A4 isn’t quite the same exhilarating experience that the S4 is, it’s still a favorite of ours. The S4 kicks the power output up significantly with an efficient 3.0 liter supercharged V6 that delivers 333 horsepower and 325 Lb-ft of torque. All that power is then sent to either a 6 speed manual transmission or our favorite 7 speed dual clutch transmission.
When it comes to the suspension, Audi uses one word to describe it and the word is “Confidence” and all of us here at Horsepower Broadcasting find ourselves in complete agreement with that assessment. The overall drive is superb and the organic feel in the steering wheel is reminiscent of days prior to electronic steering and with its available torque-vectoring sport differential, the S4 handles corners brilliantly.
Appearance wise, we really like the design and styling and the 18 inch alloy wheels make the whole thing pop pretty well.
To sum it all up, the new Audi S4 has something for everyone whether you’re into the open canyons or drag strip heroics, world class performance is what you can expect.
