2016 Corvette Stingray

The all-new 2016 Corvette Stingray is without question one of the finest sports cars on the road today. Whether you’re talking Asian, European, or Domestic, the Corvette medals in the gold position every time. Headlight to tail light, the car is exceptional.

Engine and Transmission

6.2 Liter LT1 with 460 Horsepower

6.2 Liter LT1 with 460 Horsepower

Power from the all-new 6.2 liter direct injected LT1 is incredible and thanks to clever use of gearing, low end torque is beyond impressive. With a stout 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque the car is a definite thrill ride that we continually look forward to here at Horsepower Broadcasting.

The all-new 8L90 automatic transmission is a welcome addition to the C7 and one that we actually prefer. While we agree, rowing through the gears while at wide-open throttle can often be an awe inspiring, adrenaline releasing experience we are more impressed with the awesome technology found in today’s paddle shifted automatics. No human being can outperform the shift quality and shift duration of today’s performance automatics. It’s a debate that we frequently have with our “Horsepower for an Hour” listeners all across America, and our position is always the same…”automatic wins every time”!

Interior

The interior is plush and comfortable with a flat-bottomed steering wheel that’s wrapped in leather. The entire cabin has an upscale feel with soft-touch materials replacing the old plastic style surfaces. The instrument panel is well laid out with reconfigurable screens to reflect the chosen performance parameters. There are four driving modes the driver can choose from:
* Track Mode
* Sport Mode
* Touring Mode
* Eco Mode
The new C7 also allows you the option to customize the readouts to display any instrumentation format you prefer, irrespective of the drive mode you select and a full-color driver information center is standard for all trim models. We really liked the individual climate control LED screen and controller near the passenger’s HVAC outlet that allows the passenger to set the temperature for their side of the car.

Performance Data Recorder

The available Performance Data Recorder camera can record video of race tracks, autocross circuits or just the drive home. The detailed graphics displaying steering wheel angle, braking pressure input, throttle inputs, and road speed, definitely make for a unique driving experience. A cool tool for developing your driving skills and for showing off the cars prowess to your friends. The recorded video is stored on a SD card that can be viewed on most computers.

Chassis and Suspension

With so much energy focused on the engine and drivetrain, the suspension is often overlooked. Not so with our team, we pushed our car into the corners aggressively all throughout the canyons of Southern California and each time the car responded very well. The magnetorheological suspension design is well researched and body roll even at higher speeds is minimal. Ride quality is as good or better than cars costing five to ten times as much and cabin noise in this newest 2016 Corvette Stingray is almost non-existent, even at higher speeds the ride is exceptionally quiet.

Paradise Chevrolet

Paradise Chevrolet LogoSpecial thanks to all the staff and crew at Paradise Chevrolet in Ventura California. They allowed us carte blanche with their inventory and the 2016 Corvette Stingray was the model we chose. We did a little research before we stopped by and learned Paradise Chevrolet is one of General Motors premiere Chevrolet dealers. We are grateful for their hospitality.
