A highly anticipated refreshed and upgraded version of the new Chevelle SS is poised to excite drivers when Chevrolet announces it next year. Rumors are swirling about this new car and Chevrolet is remaining tight lipped about it so, at this moment, we cannot verify its legitimacy or truth. The Chevelle SS will recreate a late sixties fastback for many drivers if a portion of what’s being written about it is true, however.

Earlier this year, we posted a photo of the Chevelle SS concept and asked our audience to vote thumbs up or down on it. 64% approved of the new design that leads us to conclude our audience is receptive to its introduction in 2017.

The Chevelle SS is similar to a Camaro, and the Camaro is one of the most popular cars from Chevrolet.

Chevelle SS Exterior Is A ’60s Throwback

On the exterior, the revised front fascia comes with slightly more angular lines, new headlamps feature LED and Xenon adaptive lamps, and the trademark split grille offers chrome finish in addition to corporate badging. The best thing about the exterior, which does not pop out immediately but becomes noticeable during a drive, is the model’s perfect 50/50 weight distribution between the front and rear end. The trunk space features 16.4 cubic feet, which is not bad for the segment.

Chevelle SS Engine And Powertrain

The hood is long; hinting at the powerful engine is underneath it. The new Chevelles’s engine alignment will be the main attraction.

Chevelle SS Engine

There will be two engine options. One will be a 2.0-liter engine with astonishing 294 horsepower and the other, 3.3-liter V-6 engine that should be more fuel-efficient.

Chevelle SS may offer two more powerful engine options, according to sources. One will offer a 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. It comes with either a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.

This engine can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, which is faster than the average for the segment. Fuel estimates check in at 17 mpg combined for either transmission.

The other is the 454 HO is capable of delivering 500 lb.-ft. of torque and it is one of the most economical engines Chevy have ever made.

The jewel of the interior is the electrically adjustable drivers seat that supposedly guarantees the best driving experience. Clever front seats design keeps you steadily in place even in high-speed cornering or quick accelerations. High headrests give you the great level of safety and comfort.

Beside the highly comfortable seats, there are many other cool features inside the car. A Bluetooth connection, USB ports, high contrast gauges, mp3 audio system, a GPS navigation that comes with a touch screen display.

Release Date and Price

Chevrolet will announce the Chevelle SS in 2016 and it will be available by Fall 2016, according to the rumors. The price will be more than affordable, as it will cost only $30.000.

Not everybody is pleased, however. 36% of our audience didn’t like the design based on our survey. Skeptics point to bad ideas from Chevrolet before. The HHR, for example. And the SSR. Both were sinfully ugly cars that should never have hit the streets.

    • serious question. I am thknniig about buying a 2006 a8 and I was wondering why in the suspension menue there is a comfort option and in others it has a standard option you can see this if you watch his review of the 2004 A8, it is driving me mad as I can not find an answer and I will not buy the car if I do not know the difference, hope someone can help! thank? you for your time.

Looks like a challenger, if this is the car, it is a half a**** effort at best. Once again chevrolet killing a legend. Remember the reintroduction of the Nova.

  2. Car looks amazing. The concept car sucks. The one that looks like a 60s era chevelle is perfect. A car should be something someone pulls out of a junk yard all rusted to hell in 50 years and rebuilds it because they absolutely love it. Most cars today are not worth a dime and they all look the same. The challeneger is one of the few cars today that is worth keeping. The throw back designs that came out in 2005 need a round 2. You want to sell cars make a car that looks exactly like a 60s or 70s car and put it on the market with modern features. Chrysler has done a great job of this. Ford and GM should follow.

  3. Tom Remington on

Try to keep as close to the old body style as possible! “We” are the ones who you are trying to appeal to. Old school body style with new school performance!

  4. It’s hideous. Please don’t sale this ugly thing. From an owner of a 72 Chevelle ss, don’t ruin the Chevelle like you did the camaro. Like dodge did the charger. The first concept in the upper picture was great. The new idea in the lower picture is terrible. It looks like a Honda or a Saab. You wanna make sales??? Give the pop what they can’t resist. A Chevelle that actually looks like a Chevelle. Not a new piece of shit

  5. Ghost Gamer on

Chevrolet will NOT make a Chevelle. They have already made a replacement for it (the Malibu), and the possible design of the Chevelle looks ugly. Unless the Malibu is having a replacement of the Chevelle,it is not gonna happen. DONE.

    • Ghost Gamer on

And the possible design I was talking about is the second one. The first picture is okay but Chevrolet would never make a car that would look like the second pic.
