Meet Johnny Martinez
Johnny and Linda Martinez and their ’29 Wicked in Suede.
Johnny’s Hot Rod is a 1929 Ford Model ‘A Pickup. It’s locally and nationally known as “Wicked in Suede” and it is one the most pristine builds we’ve seen.
Johnny bought this Ford in pieces in 1993 and slowly but surely, overcoming obstacles, he completed it in 2010. With 62 wins, 1 music video, several pin up photo shoots, some television and Video work and a few magazine shoots, Johnny says “its brought me great times, many friendships and has introduced me to very interesting people”. Although very honored and proud of his every win, his most memorable wins are the George Barris
show and the “Crusin for a Cure” win in Orange County California. Among many others, ‘Wicked in Suede’ is a two time winner at The Grand National Roadster Show in Los Angeles California.
Several years ago at Miss California’s “Luggage of Love” classic car show, both Donny and Spence (hosts of Horsepower for an Hour) had the honor of judging the event. Johnny’s ‘Wicked in Suede’ was present at that show and he certainly went home a winner that day. Johnny has been a regular at several Southern California shows including the Annual “Classics on the Coast” held in beautiful Downtown Ventura Ca. He will soon have to remodel his home to house the many awards he’s won. He and his wife Linda are both cancer survivors and have been in-studio guests on our Horsepower for an Hour show.
